The internet...it's one of the best tools ever provided.  Just think, without it, we wouldn't be having this discussion here.  The internet is, however, full of unexpected dangers lurking behind every mouse click.  It's a scary world.

Let's be honest.  All of us remember a world without the internet.  It was a day when the information super highway seemed like a fairy tale.  I still remember the day I first heard the rumor and responded with, "Yeah, right...like that's going to happen!"

Our kids, however, have never known a world without the internet.  In fact, most of them know how to use it better than we do.  What's scary is that most of them also know how to abuse it more than we do.

So, the job is up to us to educate ourselves to keep our kids safe.  I invite you to take a look at...

This is a wonderful resource that I found that is a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  Explore the site, particularly the section for Parents & Guardians.  There are some great resources for keeping your kids safe in this new cyber age.

Also, watch this blog.  Our third quarter topic is Cyber Danger and every week I'll be posting a new topic.  Monitor the posts and read the comments from the students...your children.  Then, encourage your children to get involved.  It's through talking that we all become aware of the issues we're facing.

If you have any questions, comments, or resources of your own that you'd like to share...publish your own comment below or send me an e-mail under the Contact Information tab above.
